Our staff is made up of volunteers, including Kenyan and American missionaries. We would like to provide a salary to our country director and our center directors and to provide a small stipend to volunteers who regularly volunteer the time to teach, cook, and mentor our children.
Monica Wanjiro, Nairobi Center Director
Monica is the founding Director of our Kibera children’s center and has been with us since the inception of Jamii-Kenya. She is responsible for overseeing the preschool and
after school programs at the Kibera center, the bible study, choir, and soccer teams, and she organizes and manages the center’s feeding program. Monica is responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and retaining volunteers and serves as a role model for the children at the center.
Maryanne Nyambura Njeri, Nakuru Center Director
Maryanne is the founding Director of the Nakuru children’s center, which she initiated in 2005. Maryanne was inspired to open the center when she realized how many children attending a local school were going hungry. After initially running the program from her home, in 2006 she moved the center to a nearby donated house which also now serves as a sanctuary and a chapel. Maryanne is responsible for overseeing all center operations including the feeding program, the educational programs, external relations with other community groups including local schools, and the volunteers.
Theresa Anastasia Waithera, Nyahururu Center Director
Theresa is the founding Director of our new Nyahururu children’s center. The newest of our three centers is just now getting off the ground and Theresa is taking the lead in recruiting volunteers, registering children, and establishing a feeding and educational program similar to those operating in Kibera and Nakuru
